The history of the town of Amlwch on the north coast of Anglesey, North Wales. The discovery of a large deposit of copper on nearby Parys Mountain transformed a quiet hamlet into a thriving industrial centre and port, with the attendant prosperity and social problems. The cultural, religious and educational life of the town is also addressed.



Iolo Griffiths was brought up in Anglesey, lives in North Wales and has been working for Trinity Mirror North Wales since 1987. His main interests are genealogy and local history (mainly North West Wales), and his publications include an article in Maritime Wales (Vol 12, 1989, p66-72)about his great-great-grandfather, Captain John Griffiths of Morfa Nefyn, and a few articles in Gwreiddiau Gwynedd Roots (the journal of the Gwynedd Family History Society), as well as the books listed.
