The Church

Meditation 1

Authoritative Experiences

God is the ultimate for giving authoritative experiences. It’s true that there has been a number of charismatic leaders, but for them to make an impact on society, they must be agents of the Living God. Some of these leaders have been blessed with charismatic anointing and they are divine officials. But to be truly authoritative depends solely on the grace of God. Most priests are such agents. They are known for their work and leading the worship services in the sanctuary. The Old and New Testaments are the foundation of those who have been blessed as being the rightful speakers of God. These individuals have all been anointed of the spirit.

Billy Graham (b. 1918), an American evangelical Christian who was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister observed, “The highest form of worship is the worship of the unselfish Christian service. The greatest form of praise is the sound of consecrated feet seeking out the lost and helpless.” Graham touched on the way for those with authoritative experiences—to be of service.

Experiences of Inspiration

Some Christians have experienced the thrilling effects of divine power that fell on them. These are a rather compelling inspiration that has moved them to testify about the wonders of Christ. Those with contemplative spirits attest to this truth. For pulling down strongholds of wickedness, they use prayer as a weapon of the spirit. These individuals are generous, full of fervor and exemplify gifts of goodness, justice and peace.

Jensen Ackles (b. 1978), an American actor and director who is, known for his TV roles said, “What I enjoy most is the traveling to different places and meeting new people. For me, it’s all about life experiences, and I’m very grateful that acting allows me so many interesting and fulfilling ones.” Ackles finds inspiration through the different people he meets and experiences. Some of these people may strike him as simple and humble, and may teach him humility. Others may have personalities that exude confidence and their effect may well bolster his confidence in, for, and about people.

A Charismatic Prophet

For a charismatic prophet it’s wonderful to be blessed with a spirit of ecstasy. Such a prophet will be known for his prophetic utterances—a life inspired by God’s prophecies. It’s a spiritual life with immense responsibilities, but the reward is great—profound spiritual joy and peace. To receive these rewards, one has to have the right spirit that touches lives and points them to the correct path with the authoritative Word of God. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross (1926–2004), a Swiss-American psychiatrist remarked, “I think that modern medicine has become like a prophet offering a life free of pain. It is nonsense. The only thing I know that truly heals people is unconditional love.” For Kübler-Ross, a true prophet must show unconditional love in his actions.

Experiences of Divine Power

Albert Einstein (1879–1955), a German born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity was certain, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.”

Truly great minds are known for their divine authentication. Some are blessed with the spirit of prophecy and serve exceptional spiritual food to believers and non believers alike. They are symbolic of a new spirit that has taken root in them. These individuals are the least among us, but they are still spiritually alert—quite animated and are greatly blessed.

Their sole objective is to present God’s truth based on the Gospels. Moreover, they are living examples in our midst daily. Their works are most precious because they are done through their living God, the Provider, and Creator of all living and non living things.

Thought of the Week

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek…to proclaim liberty to the captives…”

—Isaiah 61:1 (KJV)
