Cheeky Charlie

By Mat Waugh

Children's, Short stories | Paperback, eBook

Cheeky Charlie isn’t really naughty, and he definitely isn’t horrid. He’s just a curious small boy who draws, eats and climbs his way into trouble, pursued by his weary parents. Charlie's big sister is your unreliable story-teller as we follow the trail of havoc around the soft play, hospital ward, budget airline and more. If you’re looking for feel-good, laugh-out-loud stories to read with your child, or a book to get a reluctant reader up and running, this is it. "Sweet and funny short stories about a naughty-but-nice little boy. Perfect for sharing or for emerging and newly confident readers to snigger at alone.” — The Book Bag. “The author leads you into an open field and lets your imagination run wild before hitting you with a surprise. Cheeky Charlie is cleverly written, witty and funny” — The Brick Castle

Mat Waugh is a 40-something father of three young girls who lives in the south east of England. One of his most prized possessions is a much-forwarded, well-travelled letter from Clive King (author, Stig of the Dump), who wrote to tell his 7-year-old correspondent that there wouldn't be a sequel. Mat has never quite got over it. Having always nursed an ambition to write his own children's book, Mat waited until he had the least free time imaginable to finish the job. With his first book, Cheeky Charlie, and the sequel now in progress, Mat has one simple aim: to make children laugh. Because there's no finer sound than a giggling young reader.
