In the Time of the Scythians

By Richard French

Literary fiction | eBook

Paul Kingsley -- journalist, teacher, veteran, story-writer -- writes fiction set in two wars three centuries apart from each other and their effects on the lives of ordinary people involved in them. Some of these writings are included in this novel. He also joins a fight in the recent past against a violent cult called the Scythians. The story tells about Kingsley's unusual background, his wife and children, his memories, and something about the historical memory of the American people. The novel also includes a parallel story about the editor Stephanie Markham, her adventures with Kingsley's writings, and her part in the battle against the Scythians. This is the first novel in a five-part series called "Witnesses".

Richard French is an American who's been in Canada for more than 25 years. He now lives and writes in Toronto. He's uploaded 13 novels to kindle direct publishing. His themes include art, warfare, family life, the 17th century, the nature of leadership, and America's heritage. Because he's been a pastor with the Lutheran Church-Canada for as long as he's been in Canada, the Christian faith also figures in his novels.
