Ganesh Aithal was born on 21 September 2001 in Parbhani in Maharashtra, India. He studies in tenth standard in St. Augustine English School, Parbhani. From his young days, he developed interest in books and became an avid reader. Ganesh, from a very young age, was accustomed to the process of ‘listening’ to stories narrated by his mother from epics like Ramayana and Mahabharata. She also read out stories from the wit of Mullah Naseeruddin to the wisdom of Tenali Raman, and historical happenings from the valour of the Great Maratha king Shivaji to teachings of Swami Vivekananda. Later on he developed a habit of enjoying and reflecting on the writings of Ruskin Bond, RK Narayan, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde, PG Woodhouse and APJ Abdul Kalam. Consistent reading lead to myriad thoughts, which he started to express on paper. He has imbibed a knack of seeing life’s happenings in the most optimistic way, which reflects in many of his writings and short stories. The worst drought in 2015 in his region inspired him to write his first novel “The Drought Within”.
