R. A. Morean is a novelist, short story writer, essayist and screenwriter. Novels include: Azimuths, We've Got This, The Bench, In the Dead of Winter. Her work has appeared in Salon, The Lost Coast Review, Sundial Press, The Tishman Review, Ploughshares, Kalliope, and more, and her novels are with St. Martin's Press, Avignon Press, Escape Publishing (AU), and Breese Books (UK). She writes a mystery series under the name Abbey Pen Baker about the daughter of Sherlock Holmes. She grew up in Southern California just miles from Vasquez Rocks and graduated from SUNY Stony Brook. As a Salon contributor, articles and essays have included issues relating to health care, atheism, digital media, parenting, and education. She has appeared on radio and television and is president of the Antioch Writers' Workshop. A professor at Sinclair College, she also teaches creative writing workshops throughout the Miami Valley focusing on short fiction, the novel, YA novels, and screenplays. She is a single mom of four children, two dogs and a cat and has been known to keep goats.
