Quest for the True Cross

By Tony McMahon

Historical fiction, General non-fiction | Paperback, eBook

Religious war, political skulduggery and social upheaval are convulsing 12th century Europe. A Templar knight – Sir William de Mandeville – embarks on a quest for truth and honour to restore his family’s tarnished name. In order to succeed, he must recover the greatest treasure of the Templars – the True Cross – stolen by murderous thieves. The reader is swept along on a breathless journey from crusader ruled Jerusalem to medieval London and on to a violent siege against the Moorish city of Al-Usbuna (modern Lisbon in Portugal). For William and his Christian Syrian companion Pathros, it’s hard to distinguish friend from enemy. This is a treacherous world of corrupt bishops and selfless saints, decadent nobles and bloodthirsty zealots. Quest for the True Cross will reveal the links between our ancient past and today’s terrible wars and conflicts.
